Performance Parts Guide
The purpose of this guide is to help players learn more about how our custom performance part tuning system works on Overdrive and also to develop the best tune for their car.
In general, each part color has a specific bonus towards enhancing a car's top speed, acceleration, or handling. Using a full set of the designated part color provides the strongest enhancement of a car's performance rather than mixing parts. Example: If your car is all blue parts and you add red tires, it will be less effective than full red parts including the red tire bonus. Set bonuses can add up with two parts of the same color as well.
Bonus Explanations
Red: Matching Red parts will increase your car's overall handling.
Green: Matching Green parts will increase your car's overall top speed.
Blue: Matching Blue parts will increase your car's overall acceleration.
Yellow: Matching Yellow parts will have mixed results.
- Street parts unlock at Level 1.
- Race parts unlock at Level 15.
- Pro parts unlock at Level 25.
- Ultra parts unlock at Level 40.
- Elite parts unlock at Level 50.
- Junkman parts are pre-installed on Junkman editions.
Engines
Yellow: This engine will take a little bit of the torque bonus from Blue and a little bit of the Green engine rpm, creating a middle bias.
Blue: Always provide the best acceleration due to additional torque. They lower the car's stock rpm by 500 to decrease top speed when upgrading, thus balancing them into the meta accordingly.
Red: This engine uses the same torque values as Green and will only be necessary when trying to get your car Red biased. It lowers the stock rpm by 500 similar to Blue engines.
Green: This engine gives the most top speed with normal torque, but it will not have as much of an effect as Green transmissions on top speed. The key difference is that this engine adds 300 rpm to the stock limiter.
Forced Inductions
All turbos are based around boost values and set bonuses.
Yellow: Above average boost, not as strong as Blue. Contributes to Yellow set bonus.
Blue: Highest boost, contributes to acceleration bonus.
Red: Average boost, contributes to handling bonus.
Green: Average boost, contributes to top speed bonus.
Transmissions
All transmissions have varying final drive ratios (determines top speed.) They also contribute to the six piece set bonus.
Yellow: Somewhere between Green and Blue ratio, may have a little bit of acceleration scaling from Blue.
Blue: Worst final drive ratio, has increased acceleration scaling.
Red: Slightly better final drive ratio, no scaling.
Green: Highest final drive ratio, no scaling.
Suspensions
Contributes to Blue/Red/Green/Yellow set bonuses.
Yellow: A little mass multiplier since it pulls from Green and Blue. Slightly less stiff than normal.
Blue: Average stiffness with lower front weight bias than all colors.
Red: Higher than average aerodynamics, all other stats are the same as Blue.
Green: Stiffer front weight bias, same as Red front weight. Green suspension also has a mass multiplier which is increasingly effective with full Green parts.
Brakes
Contributes to Blue/Red/Green/Yellow set bonuses.
Yellow: Between Blue and Green strength.
Blue: Unstable, stronger brakes.
Red: No instability, weakest brakes.
Green: Unstable, strongest brakes.
Tires
Contributes to Blue/Red/Green/Yellow set bonuses.
Yellow: Mixed between the three, second slowest respond time.
Blue: Average response time, normal grip.
Red: Increased grip scaling, slowest response time.
Green: Average response time, normal grip.
